SPPU Pune CGPA to Percentage Converter

SPPU (formerly University of Pune), established in 1949, is Maharashtra's largest university with 700+ affiliated colleges. Named after social reformer Savitribai Phule in 2014, it is known for engineering, science, and management programs.

Formula

SPPU uses a sliding scale based on your CGPA range:

9.50 – 10.00 (O): 20 × CGPA − 100 8.50 – 9.49 (A+): 12 × CGPA − 25 7.50 – 8.49 (A): 10 × CGPA − 7.5 6.50 – 7.49 (B+): 5 × CGPA + 26.25 5.50 – 6.49 (B): 10 × CGPA − 2.5 4.25 – 5.49 (C): 10 × CGPA − 2.5

SPPU does not use one multiplier. Its 2020 circular approves grade-band equations, so the calculator changes the equation after identifying the CGPA band.

SPPU Pune Grading Scale

Savitribai Phule Pune University uses a unique sliding-scale conversion system where the multiplier changes based on your CGPA range. Higher CGPA bands have steeper conversion rates, rewarding academic excellence progressively. The system has 6 bands from O (Outstanding) to C (Satisfactory).

Grade Grade points / CGPA band Marks band How to read it
O 9.50-10.00 90.00-100.00 Use 20 x CGPA - 100
A+ 8.50-9.49 77.00-89.99 Use 12 x CGPA - 25
A 7.50-8.49 67.50-76.99 Use 10 x CGPA - 7.5
B+ 6.50-7.49 58.75-67.49 Use 5 x CGPA + 26.25
B 5.50-6.49 52.50-58.74 Use 10 x CGPA - 2.5
C 4.25-5.49 40.00-52.49 Use 10 x CGPA - 2.5

Credit Structure and Applicability

SPPU CBCS results calculate SGPA/CGPA from course credits and earned grade points; the conversion circular then maps the final CGPA band to percentage.

Applies to UG degree conversion under the SPPU circular. Program-specific ordinances can still control classification and passing rules.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does SPPU use a sliding scale instead of a fixed formula?

SPPU's sliding scale better reflects the non-linear relationship between grades and marks in their system. Higher grade bands (O, A+) represent increasingly competitive performance, so they use steeper multipliers.

How do I know which band I fall into?

Check your CGPA against the bands: O (9.50–10), A+ (8.50–9.49), A (7.50–8.49), B+ (6.50–7.49), B (5.50–6.49), C (4.25–5.49). Apply the corresponding formula for your band.

Is SPPU's sliding scale accepted by companies?

Yes, companies recruiting at SPPU colleges are familiar with this system. Most set cutoffs in CGPA (e.g., 7.5+) rather than percentage to avoid confusion.
