CBSE does not print a single universal percentage on every marksheet. ICSE and ISC: English Compulsory Rules
ICSE Class 10 commonly uses English plus the best four other subjects for best-of-five percentage. ISC Class 12 admission forms often ask for English plus the best three or four subjects, depending on the course. Example: English 86, Maths 92, Science 89, History 78, Hindi 83, Computer 95. ICSE best five = English 86 + Computer 95 + Maths 92 + Science 89 + Hindi 83 = 445, so percentage = 89%.
Maharashtra SSC/HSC
Maharashtra SSC commonly uses five subjects out of 500 marks, while HSC streams may include practicals and subject groups. Example: 82, 76, 88, 70, and 84 out of 100 gives total 400/500, so percentage = 80%.
State Boards: Karnataka, AP, Telangana, UP, Bihar, Tamil Nadu
